First road trip and visit with Grandma Helen

Hi my sweet Maya!

You have had a busy last week!Your Grandma Helen came down last Tuesday! She was flown down by Uncle Tom. We had a great visit. You spent a lot of time napping on Grandma's lap. She had the magic touch with you and you provided your grandma a lot of joy and peace, which was a much needed break for her! You also made a trip to Assisi Heights to meet Sister Lillian, your great Aunt! All the sisters thought you were so little and cute! While your Grandma was in town she bought you a really nice swing, that you love!!! In fact you are in it right now, your eyes are wide open and you are looking around but not crying!!!

                                                       Your favorite spot to nap!!

Auntie Soni gets her time too (and Lucy of course!)

We then headed to Little Falls on Friday to bring Grandma Helen home and to see Grandpa Bernie. You love your carseat and your nook-which is a great combo when traveling. You did really good. Grandpa Bernie was happy to meet you as well as Uncle Paul!  It was a great weekend but a tough weekend for your daddy as it was the first time he saw his dad since his cancer diagnosis. But you were a bright spot for everyone!! You actually had your best night of sleep while you were there.  You did great on the ride home also. We stopped in Coon Rapids to introduce you to your wonderful Uncle Steve and  Auntie Missy and you provided great baby therapy to Auntie Missy. We of course also stopped in St. Paul to visit Auntie Soni. You had your first public breastfeeding and public restroom diaper change!!!

Uncle Paul came to Little Falls!

                                                         Your Grandpa Bernie!

                                                          Cousin Michael!

You continue to change everyday! You are feeding longer and going longer between feedings, which mom and dad love! You still have a lot of hiccups!!! Hopefully you grow out of that! You also still have a hard time burping at times which makes you really upset and red in the face, but we are working on that.

Here goes nothing

Well Maya you have been here for 9 days so far and what a whirlwind of 9 days it has been. It has hard to belief how much has changed since you were born and how much I have grown emotionally and recovered physically. You have been an absolute joy since you entered this world. After a long and hard delivery you came in with so much energy and health it put me at peace. I will never forget how you were chirping like a bird shortly after you were born and you were soo wide awake and interactive. Which was in such contrast to my in and out state due the magnesium drip I was on! You were patient with me that first night.  However you were quite alert and at one point the nurse was out of the room and I was too weak and sore to get to you. I tried to wake your daddy up but he was so tired that he wouldn't respond! Finally I had to throw a pillow at him! That will be the first of many times that you will need us and we are up for the task and in fact will embrace it!!

Your entry into this world has definitely thrown me for a loop and my sense of the world and life and death in general. I have had a lot of anxiety about the big picture, and worried about bad things happening to you or your daddy from a global sense and how I would handle it. But then I just hold you, breastfeed you or just look into your eyes and feel you soft skin against me and I feel much better. I want to treasure every moment that I can and you motivate me not to worry so much about the things I can't control and just embrace every moment instead.

In the last 9 days you have smiled, lost your umbilical cord, had your first really messy poopy, made me scrunch my toes in pain while you breastfed, been held by your grandpa Assad and both your Grandmas as well as Auntie Soni. Lucy, the dog, has sniffed you. The list goes on! Overall you have been a very content baby who loves to be held while she sleeps and therefore needs a little more attention through out the night!

As I am not an "artsy fartsy" mom, I don't think it is realistic to think I will do a great job keeping up a babybook.  So instead I will try my best to keep this blog up and write to you daily if I can at first.  At some point I need to figure out how to post pictures on here!!!
