Hi Love,
We just got back from going out to lunch with Diana and you fell asleep in your carseat. You are due for you nap anyway so I am just leaving you be!
You continue to be into everything, and now you can get yourself to where you want to be! You aren't crawling yet, but you can scoot pretty darn good on your but. I will look over at you and suddenly you won't be where I left you!!! You are also rolling more from your back to your belly and really lifting your head up so I wouldn't be surprised if you start crawling soon.
You love to "talk" and you "talk" loudly! (just like me). You have the ba, da and ma sounds down really good. You love to hear your own voice. Your dad will put you on his knee and you bounce you up and down and then you really like to scream and hear your voice vibrating. We all get a kick out of it.
You continue to eat like a champ. I think you are probably ready for some chunkier food. I might give you some small pieces of banana today and maybe even cheerios soon!
You are still getting up to eat at night-you stinker!!! I thought I had weaned you of that as you slept through the night 3-4 nights in a row, but then you started to wake up again! You are getting your second tooth and I wonder if that is contributing to it. But I think you are truly hungry! You must be going through a growth spurt. I am so tired at night I don't have it in me to let you cry it out! Oh well.
Tomorrow you are having your "6 months" pictures (even though you are now 7 months). I am excited. I just have to figure out what you should wear!
We are heading to San Diego this Wednesday. We will see how you do on your first airplane ride. I am excited to have you swim in the hotel pool and to take you to the San Diego Zoo. Uncle Majid and Auntie Katy are meeting us there so it will be great to spend some time with them. You have changed so much since they last saw you over Christmas. Auntie Soni is flying out with us too so you will get lots of quality time with her.
You are at such a fun stage right now. I am trying to treasure all the moments as I know you will grow up fast......

7 months old!
Hi Maya Love,
You are seven months old today. Hard to believe you have been part of our family for 7 whole months. I of course took your seven month picture today. You still fit into the same cute little onsie that Amber and Drew got you so I couldn't resist having your wear it. Every time I think it is going to be the last time! So we will see for your 8 month picture.
In other big news, you are getting your second tooth! Right next to where you got your first one. You haven't even been that fussy with it. You are such a trooper. You definitely have been chewing away on things. You have all these fantsy rattles, chew things and of course you would rather chew on your baby lotion container or a plastic bag or a cloth!!! Silly girl.
You are really becoming quite the scooter. When I come to get your after your nap you are never in the same position that I left you. I peeked in on you today after I put you down in you crib and you were horizontal in the crib, on your side with your legs poking out between the bars of the crib. You love to have a little blankie with you in the crib. You put it right by your face. Mary says you do the same thing at daycare.
You are continuing to eat well. I am going to start feeding you real food twice a day every day! You are also rolling over really well now, especially from your stomach to your back. I think it is because you don't love being on your stomach. But if you have enough toys to play with you will stay on your tummy for a little bit. I can also stand you up next to the ottoman and with your hands on the ottoman you can stand by your self.
Yesterday I bought you some new toys so it has been fun to watch you play with them. You continue to be into everything!! You love to play with your diapers, wipes and lotion bottles.
You continue to love your baths and now I can put you in the tub with out the laundry basket and you are really stable. You put your legs out really wide though!!! You are smart about things like that.
Well time to give you your antibiotics and get you to bed!!!
Love,
Mama!

One my favorite patients made you this adorable sweater. She made it to match the one she had made me!!!
Daddy dressed you this day. He decided to put in your bike kit!!
Yummy! You were eating a pear/apple combo here!
7 month picture!! It is getting harder to get you to sit still!!!

First weekend away from me...
Hi Maya Love,
I left you for the whole weekend for the first time this last weekend. I had a baby shower in Chicago for Amber! I was excited for the baby shower but sad to be away from you for over 2 days! Your dad took you up to Little Falls for the weekend, so you got to spend time with Grandma Helen and lots of Aunts and Uncles. You did great!!! You ate really well for you dad, including real food. You love your sweet potatoes!!! You are eating real food like a champ lately. You still make a big mess though!!! I did miss you....I had fun...but I just felt like something wasn't quite right...I will admit it was nice to sleep hard for two nights with out having to worry about you waking up! You, Lucy and your dad picked me up at the airport and you gave me a big smile!!! I was of course really excited to see you. Overall I think the weekend was a success. Now I know I can be away from you and that I will be okay.
You got your first major cold last week. I felt so bad for you, but I think it was harder on me than you! You had a cough and a really runny nose. Your eyes were all glassy. You were more tired than usual but still were able to eat well, which was important. You are feeling a lot better this week but still have a really runny nose. You pretty much are always blowing snot bubbles out of your nose. And then of course you hate it when we wipe your nose, you little stinker.
I don't want to jinx things, but you slept from 8pm to 6:30 am!!! Through the night!! Yeah. I knew you had it in you. Lets see if we can keep it going.
I think you are growing taller and leaning out a little. You just don't seem as dense. I can't believe how fast you change. Even over the weekend you changed!!!
I have been trying to put you to bed with out your pacifier. It takes you longer to fall asleep but you eventually do. I just don't want you to be dependent on you.
You love to play with your blocks that your "Auntie Amber" got you. Your Grandpa thinks you are very thoughtful and cautious with things. I think he is right. If there is a block in front of you that you quite can't reach you will lean really far forward to get it but not to the point where you fall over. You still don't like to roll from you back to your stomach but can easily roll from you stomach to your back!
Love you Mayabird!!!

Fun, Fun, Fun
Hi Maya,
You are fast asleep in your crib. Let's cross our fingers and hope you sleep through the night. I am not betting on it, especially because your last feeding this evening was not huge. You kept just looking around. You are easily distractable these days! As fun as it to feed you, sometimes I get frustrated because just as I am about to put the spoon in your mouth you move your head and you get a big glob of baby food somewhere it wasn't meant to be...like in your eye, on your nose, on your cheeks, etc!!! I fed you sweet potatoes today and I think you liked them. You eat about 2 ounces at a time.
You continue to LOVE your baths! I now put a laundry basket in the bathtub for you to sit it. It works perfectly! You still sometimes fall over and end up being submerged for a brief period. You don't cry though, you are tough!!! I am excited to take you swimming in a real pool when we go to San Diego!
You still don't love to roll over but will do it every once in a while when you really want to get to a toy. You are actually really good at "self" play as dad and I like to say. We can plop you on the ground with some toys around you and you will play, play, play.
Thank you Maya for bringing so much joy to our lives!

Using the laundry basket to entertain you while I shower!
Using the laundry basket IN the tub!!!
You are at such a fun stage right now! I love just watching you as you play. You look so intently at everything you pick up. You like to pick up something in each hand and then put them together. We still can't tell if you are right or left handed. You are continuing to make tons of sounds. I think you may even say "daddy" at times, but not on purpose. You like to throw out an occasional scream sometimes to, I think you like to hear your voice. You started blowing raspberries yesterday when we were at the vet with Lucy.Thank you Maya for bringing so much joy to our lives!

What goes in must come out..
Hi Maya,
You are of course playing with my iphone......what is it about babies loving anything electronic...you probably like it because you associate it with me...that is probably a sign that I use it too much around you....anywhooo....lets talk about food. You continue to eat like a champ....you have had the following foods:
1. carrots-not a huge fan...but will eat it if mixed with other fruits or oatmeal, but boy do they make your toots stinky!!!
2. apples
3. pears
4. bananas
5. green beans
6. sweet potatoes
7. turkey gravy-eek...but you ate it.
8. rice cereal and oatmeal
Your dad cooked up a whole bunch of food today. He has been in the kitchen all day...peeling...baking...blending... He is a good daddy to you. We will now have a good supply of papaya, apples, pears, sweet potatoes, squash, root vegetables (carrots, sweet potatoes and parsnips). I am planning on starting you on avocados soon! We wouldn't have to buy any baby food now.
We went over to visit Sarah and Bethel yesterday. Bethel is 3 months older than you but about the same size as you. She had a lot of fun toys at her house so you had a good time. You really like playing with blocks. So I took you to TJ Max today and I bought you some more toys.... you are spoiled...he he! It is just so fun to watch you analyze and play with new toys. You like to pick up an object in each hand and then bring them together and stare at them...you are trying to figure out how they relate. You also like to take objects out of boxes/containers and then put them back in....You are very purposeful in how you play...I love watching it!
You are still getting up at night to eat...usually at 4 am or later. I will first just hear you "talking" and then eventually you get mad and start crying and at that point your dad and I will go in there. We try to get you to go back to sleep by putting your pacifier back in your mouth...but then you really get upset and start screaming. At that point I usually break down and feed you. And you eat ALOT!. But I would like to fit more feedings in during the day and get rid of the night time feeding. The only good thing about it (beside the fact that I don't mind seeing your cute little face in the middle of the night), is that you will then usually let us sleep in until after 8 on days that we don't have to get up to go to work.
This past Friday you had your six month shots. You weight 18 plus pounds. I don' t have the paperwork so I don't remember your height. You are still in the 91st percentile for weight but you have moved up to the 81st percentile for height. You used to be in the 60's. I was really excited about it...maybe you won't be short.
Love you lots Mayabird....

Where to start....
Hi Love,
You are sitting right in front of my as I write this playing with my Iphone. You are into EVERYTHING now. You love to look at things and analyze them. You sit up like a champ and play, play, play. Now onto more serious things...
Since I last wrote a lot has happened...your Grandpa Bernie passed away on January 17th.... It was a long process and emotionally and physically exhausting. Your daddy got called up to Little Falls urgently on January 11th as your Grandpa wasn't doing well. I packed up you and we headed up the next day. Your Grandpa and Grandma Karimi were nice enough to drive up with me in order to take the Civic home, so we wouldn't have two cars. I ran inside right when we got there. Your Grandpa Bernie was still with it and I went and hugged him right away. I then had your dad bring you over to him. He had been pretty out of it all day. Not talking and mostly sleeping. But when we brought you to him he woke up and was alert and knew it was you...he even held you with some help from me...it was a beautiful moment. You were a little unsure of what was going on...but let him hold you. Everyone was tearing up. ...we fortunately got a lot of pictures of the moment...which we will cherish. I am so happy that your Grandpa Bernie got to meet you....but I am sad that you wouldn't remember him and that you won't get to spend time with your Grandpa Bernie as you get older....he loved you soo much. He normally didn't like to hold little babies, but he did with you. He was always concerned about protecting your neck, when you were really little. He would whistle at you and you would stare at him back. I hope that your cousins will tell you lots of stories about your Grandpa Bernie as hee was a wonderful Grandpa.
He did not end up passing away until January 17th, so it got to be a really long process. So I ended up taking you to cities the first weekend and we spent time with all your great aunts and some of your cousins on Grandma Lynne's side. It was a nice break and we actually had some fun. I bought you some cute stuff from Baby gap.
Back to your Grandpa...the wake and funeral were beautiful...and you were such a champ during all of it. You were actually part of the funeral. You helped present the gifts with your cousin Gretchen.
During the whole process, before and after your Grandpa's death, you were such a breath of fresh air and provided so many moments of joy to everyone during such a tough time....thank you for keeping us all smiling and reminding of the wonderful things that are still present in our lives....you truly do provide joy to all of us.....
You continue to change and grow so much. You are now over 6 months old...You talk so much, no actual words but lots of cooing and talking...and as I said before you love to play...well you are starting to fuss...i better go!!!

Fussypants..
Hi Honey...
You are in your exersaucer and are quite fussy. You don't want to eat, you don't want to nap but I think you are both hungry and tired! Grandma Lynne watched you today and for some reason you never nap as good at home as you do at daycare!!! Sometimes you will get up to a 2 hour nap at Mary's but we are lucky if we can get you to nap for 45 minutes. I think you are much happier in the evenings when you have napped well during the day....so tonight you are being what I call HM (high maintenance). I do agree that babes your age do well with routine and a schedule. Too bad we can't keep you on the same schedule when you are at home that you do when you are at daycare!!! Well you are screetching so I better attend to you he he. Oh by the way you had green beans today and it went pretty well!
